Who are we?

Learn to Drive Driving School, located in Clifton NJ, is committed to educating and encouraging safe driving habits while giving students a solid understanding of how to operate an automobile.

It was founded by Mr. Luis Lleonart, a New Jersey State certified driving instructor with an impressive 33-year safe driving record. He successfully completed the Defensive Driving Teaching Techniques course at New Jersey City University and has been a committed driving instructor for 20 years

English & Spanish Bilingual Lessons

We offer driving lessons in both English and Spanish, so you can learn in your native language!

Safety & Respect

We take our role to teach new and inexperienced drivers very seriously.  Teaching safety and respect for others on the road is our number one priority.

Our students have the chance to learn to drive in the safe & award winning Toyota Prius, a hybrid-electric vehicle.

Services

16 Year Old Driver Program

Learn to Drive driving school has put together a special 16 year old behind the wheel teen driver training program. The course includes:

​

  • a New Jersey drivers permit (NJ learners permit)

  • taking the student to get their eyes examined (NJ vision test)

  • 6 hours of behind the wheel driver training, with an emphasis on defensive driving techniques

  • explanation of the general operations of the automobile

  • how to properly and safely execute left and right turns

  • parking and parallel parking

  • k-turn (also known as three point turn)

  • straight reverse

  • maintaining speed control on the highway

  • experience changing lanes

  • how to check for blind spots

  • obtaining an NJ road test date and a validated NJ learners permit

  • certificate of achievement

All behind the wheel driver training and NJ Road Test appointments must be canceled 24 hours in advance. If not, rescheduling fees will apply.

Additional Driving Lessons

While the state of NJ requires a 6 hour behind the wheel training program — that is a minimum!  Many students require more than 6 hours to become comfortable and learn the fundamental skills that will help them to be a safe teen driver.

Learn to Drive driving school is happy to provide an assessment of your driving skills and can provide the additional driving lessons required on a case by case basis.  Many of our customers prefer to purchase this up-front in one of our packages, as it will save you money in the long run.

Remember, our clients are always able to call and ask questions along the way for no additional charge.  We are your partner throughout this entire process and look forward to helping your children become safe, responsible teen drivers.

NJ Permit Test

The first step after taking a drivers ed course is to take the NJ permit test or written NJ driving test. If you have not completed this test in high school, and are under 17 years of age, Learn to Drive driving school is pleased to take our customers to an NJ MVC Testing Center to take the written NJ permit test.

Included in the Learn to Drive driving school NJ Permit Test Service, students are provided with a copy of Learn to Drive driving school's study guide for the written NJ permit test. Further,Learn to Drive driving school will also have the vision test completed with the student at the same time.

Adult Driver Training

Whether you’re moving to the suburbs from the city, coming to NJ from another country, or had a situation that has shaken your confidence,Learn to Drive driving school will custom tailor a training program for you.

NJ Road Test

Once you have completed your 6 months of supervised practice driving, and you have turned 17, you can take the NJ Road Test. Learn to Drive driving school  would be pleased to accompany you to the test, provide you with the use of our vehicle and an instructor, pick you up to take the test, and even provide you with some last minute training to ensure that you’re ready.  If you are getting close to the day, and are not feeling confident, you can always call and we will be happy to provide you with additional training prior to the test day.

 

The NJ road test must be scheduled with NJ MVC in advance, and we will be happy to schedule this for you if needed; although, most tests are scheduled for the date of your 17th birthday when your NJ practice permit is validated.
